Rappin Duke? Gay Child? Sorta

Last night I was thinking about my first concert ever.
It was New Edition at the Intrepid. I couldn't have been older than 8 at the time. My mom got tickets for me and my babysitter, Mark, who I looked up to an idolized. I think he must've been in High school. I can't imagine my mom leaving me with a 12 year-old. She was crazy paranoid.
The real crazy thing about the concert was the opening acts. They were the Rappin Duke of "Duh huh, Duh Huh" fame and the rap group that sang " A Dollar Bill Y'All". They both had to be the wierdes and funniest rap groups ever. Both blew up for a little bit. The Rappin' Duke ended up coming out with another album, he was so popular. I can't find the name for the dollar bill group anywhere though.
What kept me up last night though was thinking of how I had a New Edition poster on my was that, in my mind's eye seems so New Kid on The Block'ish. I'm pretty sure it was pink, and it was a TrapperKeeper( remeber those?!?)girl would have with pictures of the group on it. I can't believe my mother didn't question my sexuality. I really can't remember if I got the poster at the concert or before. I had another one that was definitely purchased before that depicted their hit "Mr. Telephone Man". This one wasn't too gay. It just showed them on the street with some telephone repair me. Its funny to think how oblivious they were to think that the click they kept hearing on the the phone wasn't the girl hanging up on them but a phone malfunction!
I also had 2 Michael Jackson posters up at the time. One where his head is in his hand and he's on he lighted sidewalk in the Billy Jean video. Not too gay. This hung over my bed. The other one was in the hall way on the door of the closet right outside my room It was the thriller cast poster. all the monsters surrounding Michael, looking menacing as can be. It scared the shit out of me, which is why it was moved out of my room. Not gay. Along with those I had a Sports Illustrated cover with Alan Cummings on the cover. If you're looking hard, that's sorta gay. I also had a Raggedy Ann toy box which was super gay. I can't believe my mom bought that for me. I'm sort of pissed about it now.
But I digress. The show was sick. During the "Dollar bill" song the group actually accepted dollar bills from the audience as opposed to today's rap groups who throw money in to the crowd, a la Puffy and Biggie when I saw them at the beacon with Wu Tang. The greatest rp concert ever.
Seeing the concert at an aircraft carrier was awesome for me seeing as how I wanted to be a Navy fighter pilot. I don't remember dancing but I do remember saying "Duh Huh, Duh Huh" all night.
